Memsic Introduces 3-Aixs Magnetic Sensor for Gaming and Smartphone Applications

Memsic has launched the MMC3280MA, a low-profile 3-Axis Magnetic sensor. The magnetic sensors find applications in many consumer products and mobile phones.

The latest in the magnetic sensor product line, MMC3280MA, has been exclusively developed for smartphone, PC tablets, gaming and many other applications. The advantages offered by the new sensor are compact size, low power electronic compass function and high accuracy (+/- 2 degrees).

The sensor is housed in a BGA package measuring 2x2x1 mm. It is able to work with a wide voltage range from 1.62 to 3.6 V and consumes 0.22 mA power. The sensor operates with Memsic’s Intelligent Heading Correction (IHC) library of active compensation algorithms and automatic calibration. Equipped with these algorithms, the sensor is able to provide excellent compass performance and simplifies the use of mobile solutions.

Mark Laich, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Memsic, claims that the new sensor would be successful in meeting the market demand for highly optimized designs. Memsic plans to roll out the sample in the second quarter of 2011 and the production roll out is scheduled in the third quarter.
