Onset Computer has launched a new data logger to track ocean temperatures at considerable depths. The new HOBO U12 Deep Ocean Temp logger has the capacity to track temperatures at water depths up to 11,000 meters.
HOBO U12, the new water temperature data logger, is suitable for oceanographers who want to explore the deep water to track water temperatures at regular intervals. The easy-to-use logger can provide long years of reliable service in corrosive salt water conditions. It is designed to measure the temperatures of water from -40 to 125°C. The logger is fully covered with durable titanium and contains a battery that can last for three years.
Using a direct USB interface, users can easily and swiftly transfer the water temperature data from the HOBO U12 Deep Ocean Temp logger to a Mac or a PC computer. The data logger can also be offloaded to the HOBO U-Shuttle, a compact data transport device, designed by Onset for reading and re-launching the logger in the absence of a laptop computer in the field.
Onset’s HOBOware Pro software helps to examine and chart the water temperature data. Its settings are configured using intuitive windows. HOBOware Pro can also combine temperature data from many HOBO U12 Deep Ocean loggers and offer a single-click data transport to Microsoft Excel and other applications. The data logger can also be used for ocean circulation studies and for following hydrothermal vent activities.
