STMicroelectronics (ST), a global supplier of Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems for portable applications, has launched the LSM320DL multi-sensor module featuring five degrees of freedom for motion detection-based applications in game controls, mobile phones and navigation systems.
ST's multi-sensor module integrates a 2-axis digital gyroscope and a 3-axis digital accelerometer. The integration enhances the sensing reliability and accuracy at decreased cost and size. The five degrees of freedom increase the module’s robustness.
The LSM320DL has high mechanical and thermal stability that enables it to be used for applications requiring high-precision in a wide range of industrial and consumer applications, including mobile phones, remotes, pointers, and game consoles. In portable electronics, it can provide free-fall detection and smart power saving, and in navigation systems it can provide map-matching and dead-reckoning.
The ST LSM320DL module includes an embedded FIFO memory block, sleep and power-down modes. It can detect up to 2000 dps angular rate and up to 16 g acceleration. The module can operate within a supply voltage of 2.4 to 3.6 V.
