ZST Digital Networks, a supplier of optical and digital network equipment and provider of GPS tracking and location services, has recently applied for a patent for its Assisted GPS (A-GPS) technology with the Chinese authorities, the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO).
ZST Digital's GPS fleet management devices feature real time GPS monitoring and tracking, alternative positioning systems, live updated maps on a WEBGIS platform as well as a number of functions such as vehicle exhaust emission testing and speed limiting.
Traditional GPS tracking systems depend on radio signals received from satellites. Environments such as dense urban areas can lead to poor signal conditions. ZST Digital's Assisted GPS technology can help improve the operation of these systems by using network resources from a mobile network. The novel technology can use location based service (LBS) capabilities of present mobile phone equipment to form a dual-positioning mode. Whenever electromagnetic interference or signal blocks from satellites occur, the Assisted GPS technology will activate the phone LBS functionality and prevent disruption of navigation and tracking services.
The patent approval for the Assisted GPS technology will strengthen ZST Digital's position in the Henan Province GPS market.
