Skyworks Solutions, a company specializing in high reliability analog and mixed signal semiconductors, has launched new dynamic range power detectors, which can be used for data cards and smart phones.
The RF detectors have addressed, for the first time, the need in the market for diminutive stand–alone devices, which go well with different baseband architectures and also are capable of handling LTE and 3G band combinations. Moreover, these devices have been developed to work along with the SKY7772X and SKY7770X series of 4G and 3G power amplifiers, so that the compatibility of the integrated daisy chain coupler could be expanded for almost all the transceivers and basebands.
The compact size of the detectors, 1.2x .5 mm, helps in reducing board space requirements and their higher dynamic range enhances power control and also leads to an improvement in the total radiated power performance. Both longer talk and standby times are enabled due to their low current consumption levels, and the currently available 3G smart phones are greatly benefited by the high off-state impedance level.
Gregory L. Waters, who serves as General Manager and Executive Vice President of Skyworks, revealed that the company is overjoyed to bring out the latest technology once again. He mentioned that the power detectors are compatible with their other solutions and thus provide their customers a complete solution for data cards and smart phones.
