Resensys has selected RFaxis’ single-chip/single-die RF Front-End Integrated Circuits (RFeIC) for its wireless structural health monitoring system.
RFaxis, a fabless semiconductor firm, designs and develops RF solutions for cellular and wireless connectivity markets.
The RFX2401 RFeIC has been designed for 2.4 GHz ZigBee/ISM applications. It is a fully integrated chip, which is available in a compact size of 3x3 mm 16-lead QFN package. It includes a low noise amplifier, a power amplifier, matching network, transmit and receive switching, power detector, CMOS control logic and a harmonic filter. It is an easy-to-implement, robust RF Front-End solution.
Resensys wireless structural health monitor system uses RFaxis RFX2401 along with CC2530 2.4 GHz System-on-Chip (SoC) from Texas Instruments for IEEE 802.15.4 ZigBee/ISM. The monitoring system is capable of measuring temperature, load, mechanical shift and vibration of mechanical and civil structures in real-time. It can provide advance warning about adverse cracks, deformations and strains in structures.
The sensor system can help avoid catastrophic structural failures. Resensys has used the RFaxis RFX2401 RFeIC to enable a reliable RF communications link that is essential for effective working of the patent-pending sensor solution.
