Premo has launched the DSR5 Series of Hall Effect sensors with an input reference pin. This series has been created for a single supply voltage of +5 V.
The DSR5 series is a close loop technology component put together in a very small pack for THT mounting. Primary winding is incorporated, which permits measurement of DC, pulse and AC currents on printed circuit boards. An external pin that provides access to the internal reference (2.5V) is the main characteristic of this series and this pin could be utilized as either input or output signals, which are used by microcontrollers that provide superior offset control at zero current.
The series has been developed for nominal currents of 50, 25, 15 and 6 A. The multi-pin configuration would permit a range of nominal currents by linking 1, 2 or 3 pins with the primary winding. The output signal is focused at 2.5 V with a ±0.625 V output voltage at nominal input currents. However, the design would permit detection of currents up to three times nominal current.
A linearity of <0.1% with accuracy levels of ±0.7% are provided. Bandwidth of up to 150 kHz is provided along with a response time, which is less than 0.5 us. A low value of 0.3%mV/ºC is achieved for offset drift versus temperature, and only 20 mA is consumed by the circuit.
The sensor has been created with the highest safety requirements in mind. In plastic housing it is fully isolated, reaching isolation values greater than 3000 Vac. It is also completely compliant with industrial standards such as EN 60947-1:2004, EN 50178:1998 and EN 60950-1:2001, while its isolated plastic case complies with UL94-V0.
