Vaisala has developed a new range of HMP humidity and temperature sensors, which are not only simple to integrate but also are cost-effective when used in remote data logging applications.
The tiny HMP60 could be implemented using a screw-on connector and has a very low power consumption which is ideal for battery-powered systems. The HMP60 utilizes an exchangeable INTERCAP sensor which would not need recalibration. This sensor could be set for four voltage output ranges.
The HMP110 is very much like the HMP60 but it includes a HUMICAP 180R sensor which permits high chemical tolerance along with enhanced precision. This sensor also comes along with a calibration certificate, which reads as having attained +/-1.7% measurement accuracy. However, unlike the HMP60 this sensor needs to be recalibrated following sensor replacement.
Each probe is cased in aluminum IP65 housing beside a membrane filter and a plastic grid that helps to protect the sensor. A stainless steel filter is also being offered for more rugged applications. A standard M8 connector is provided for the probe cables which would ensure that it could be used with any compatible M8 series cable. An RS-485 digital output is also available for both the sensor models as an option. A snap on USB cable could also be interfaced with the cables for maintenance purposes, but this cannot be used for permanent installations.
