Opsens has secured its second largest order for the OPP-W, which is a fiber optic sensor system, to instrument 21 wells at the SAGD oil sands project.
The President of Opsens Solutions, Darren Wiltse has stated this order is proof that the company has reinforced its business relationship by offering value added services and by working closely with the client. Pierre Carrier, President of Opsens stated that the company provides a complete solution to oil and gas customers that comprise sensor design, manufacture and sensor installation. This order for 21 wells, several recent orders and several outstanding bids has enabled the company to expect a considerable revenue increase for this fiscal 2011.
The team from Opsens Solutions, who are highly skilled in field services and engineering, will deal with the installation associated with the commercial order. The company has scheduled to immediately commence the sensor installation program and is expecting to complete 50% installation before the end of August 2011.
During the process of thermal recovery, the sensor system, OPP-W, offers dependable real-time data of downhole temperature and pressure about its SAGD wells at the time of the operation. The capacity to manage the bottomhole pressure precisely at high temperatures for man-made lift systems like electrical submersible pumps makes SAGD workers to enhance the ratios of steam and oil, and to lessen the cost of operation and lifting.
Moreover, Opsens has a current commitment to develop reservoir surveillance solutions including both thermal and conventional observation wells, for geological storage of carbon dioxide (CO2), CO2-EOR and alternative gas projects.
