Banner Engineering is launching the new TM18 EZ-BEAM photoelectric sensor, which can be used in heavy duty environments. This device provides nickel plated, zinc metal housing along with fully epoxy encapsulated electronics.
The TM18, which is rated IP69K, offers advanced resistance and durability in harsh environments such as high pressure washdown applications. The sensor with its right angle shape and threaded barrel mount could fit even in tight places and sensor damages could be averted during transportation, assembly, operations and maintenance of the machines.
According to Dennis Smith who is the Technical Marketing Manager of Banner Engineering, the TM18’s plastic version was well-liked mainly due to its small size, hygienic design and compact shape. This sensor is suitable for the food and beverage industry consumers. It also provides enhanced immunity towards fluorescent lamps and electro-magnetic noise. The sensor features visible red emitter LED models, which are being offered in diffuse and fixed-field, retroreflective and polarized modes, with the help of which it gets aligned to the target with ease. This helps the sensor to offer dependable sensing on conveyors fitted in heavy duty machines, production equipment, automotive machining, outdoor and off-road equipment or in traffic dense areas i.e. where the sensor could be stepped on or damaged.
Smith further states that the new TM18 gives all the benefits offered by T18 along with improvements in the form of bright red emitter beams and robust toughness. The diffuse and fixed field models have much more immunity to false outputs from the lights. The TM18 also offers a one-turn potentiometer on the diffuse model just like the previous versions and no alterations have been carried out on the fixed field background suppression, opposed mode and polarized retro models. NPN or PNP, which are four wire complementary and 3-wire I/O block compatible outputs are also being offered.
