WEIDMANN Diagnostic Solutions, a subsidiary of WEIDMANN ELECTRICAL TECHNOLOGY, and H2scan, a provider of hydrogen leak detection solutions, has signed an agreement for supplying hydrogen sensing monitors. During the five-year agreement period, H2scan will supply WEIDMANN hydrogen sensing systems for measuring hydrogen in power transformer oil.
The hydrogen monitor is the first in the industry that has the capability to be in direct contact with the transformer oil and provide real-time measurement of hydrogen concentrations. It can also measure hydrogen in the headspace. The gas monitor can measure hydrogen temperatures of up to 105°C, over a wide temperature range. It has a trending capability and can perform as an early warning sensing solution. The monitor supports a wide sensing range from as low as 25 ppm. It does not have any mechanical parts or membranes. It also does not require any consumables. The hydrogen sensing monitor also has an inbuilt patented micro-chip technology. It is designed for retro-fit applications and is easy to install.
The monitor has been jointly-designed by WEIDMANN and H2scan. The product will be launched in the market after completion of 12 months of testing and validation at several sites across the U.S. The system has a 10-year life expectancy and it can provide data logging for a 12 month period.
