GE Gas Turbines Employ Macro Sensors LVDTs

Macro Sensors, a sensor manufacturer based in US has been certified to become an approved Linear Variable Differential Transformer (LVDT) supplier for GE gas turbines.

The LVDTs are used for position measurement on interceptor valves, throttle valves, stop/reheat valves, governor valves and other control valves. Macro Sensors have been qualified to be used on GE steam turbines for many years but the company has now extended their sensor certifications by including CSA and ATEX approvals and thus can be used on GE gas turbines.

LVDTs are being offered in a number of outputs and configurations to suit diverse applications.

These sensors are ideal for a number of industrial applications such as steam/gas turbines, power plants, motion control systems, factory automation, automotive assembly and metal fabrication. Founded in the year 1994, this company was purchased by AST in 2005.

The LVDT is a standard type of electromechanical transducer capable of converting an object’s rectilinear motion to a corresponding electrical signal when it is coupled mechanically to it. Its main advantages are its friction free operation, infinite resolution, single-axis sensitivity, unlimited mechanical life, environmental robustness and separable coil and core.
