Magellan has introduced a promotion, whereby their customers in Canada and US could enjoy a trade-in-offer for any GIS data collection device with Magellan’s GIS eXplorist Pro 10 device at a discount of $75. This device is a handheld waterproof and strong device that operates on Windows Mobile 6.5. Magellan regional resellers would handle the trade-in-program.
According to Sunnie Tsai, the Director of Magellan GPS, the eXplorist GPS/GIS devices are flexible, precise and cost-effective. This promotion activity would help not only Magellan device owners to purchase the advanced version at a low cost but also allow people who own competitor devices to experience Magellan product’s unique features.
The eXplorist Pro 10 device has an IPX-7 waterproof covering and is ideal for GIS professionals who require GIS data collection. This tool would provide 3-5 m of accuracy and works along with GPS receivers which are Bluetooth-enabled to supply 1-3 m. This device would permit the operation of GIS data collection software such as ARcPad 10 from ESRI.
The eXplorist Pro 10 includes a transflective touch screen, a 3D compass, an integrated high-sensitivity SIRFstar III GPS receiver, integrated camera, a WQVGA display with 16-bit color, multidirectional patch antenna, an integrated Bluetooth 2.0 wireless technology and a pressure altimeter and barometer. It also provides a 4GB non-volatile flash data storage, 128 MB RAM memory, and a microSD/micro SDHC memory card slot which has an additional 32 GB storage facility. This device is available in 12 different languages for users all over the world. The promotional activity is valid up to October 31, 2011.
