A supplier of identity management and security solutions for commercial, government and consumer applications, AuthenTec has announced that the TazPad Android tablet designed by TazTag integrates the TCS2 TouchChip designed by AuthenTec.
Users will be able to securely access and use mobile payment options due to the secure fingerprint authentication provided by the TouchChip sensor. TazTag’s Android-based tablet will also combine ZigBee and NFC capabilities.
The AuthenTec sensor improves the security of the TazPad tablet through one-touch fingerprint authentication which can be applied to online, ZigBee and NFC transactions. After fingerprint authentication is complete on the tablet, it allows the vendor to provide product information, access the loyalty card details, book orders and complete a payment. The TazPad also features a pre-integrated microprocessor with a chip and an operating system.
The Chief Executive Officer of TazTag, Eric Fouchard stated that the fingerprint biometric technology offered by AuthenTec’s TCS2 touch sensor allows for a secure and convenient payment transaction and has been integrated in several phones with NFC capability.
The Vice President, Government and Access Control of AuthenTec, Alan Kramer stated that the TazPad is the first Android tablet to combine fingerprint authentication along with NFC transaction capabilities.
To enable a secure and quick user authentication, the TCS2 sensor has been mounted on the front of the tablet. It provides high quality fingerprint image performance and can be used for various identity verification applications. The TCS2 features AuthenTec’s long-lasting SteelCoat surface coating which further protects the sensor.
The TazPad has a 7 in. screen and has HDMI and full HD output. It also features a camera, an accelerometer and a GPS device.
