ZMOTION Intrusion Reference Design Demonstrates Usage of Zilog’s Detection Solution

IXYS’s completely-owned subsidiary, Zilog, an embedded microcontroller system-on-chip (SoC) solutions supplier for consumer, power management and industrial applications has launched a newly developed ZMOTION intrusion reference design (ZIRD) that would demonstrate the usage of Zilog’s ZMotion intrusion detection device in a passive infrared (PIR)-based motion detector.

The ZIRD also demonstrates how to incorporate added features such as power supply supervision and anti mask.

The detection device incorporates the Z8FS021 ZMOTION intrusion detection microcontroller along with pyroelectric sensors and lenses for use in a wide variety of intrusion motion detection applications.

The Z8FS021 comes pre-loaded with software algorithms for motion detection. These algorithms are executed in the background while status and control of the ZMOTION engine is possible via the application programmer interface (API). Optimized API settings matching the pyroelectric sensor and lens combinations are also provided.

The Chief Executive Officer of IXYS, Dr Nathan Zommer stated that power semiconductors, solid state relays and integrated circuits supplied by the company have been used by the security industry for several years. Dr Zommer further added that the ZMOTION intrusion detection solutions are ideal for security detection. The ZMOTION microcontroller aids in controlling IXYS power semiconductors as well.
