Acoustic Sensor Technology for Perimeter Protection and Sniper Detection

3e Technologies International has developed the GunfireGuard that will take advantage of the real-time video analytics of the company’s VirtualFence and the patented acoustic sensor technology of Ultra Electronics to ensure extra superior security level and an instantaneous response in an emergency or hostile situation.

A perimeter protection solution, the GunfireGuard is ideal for use in urban areas with an increased crime rate and forward deployed bases. Featuring sophisticated algorithms, 3e Technologies’ GunfireGuard is capable of pinpointing the firing position of a sniper in the surrounding region and at the same time noting its longitude and latitude in order to enable officials to zoom in on the location of the sniper.

The President of 3e Technologies International, Benge Erinle elaborated on the advantage of having a camera and sensor proximately located by stating that upon detection of gunfire, VirtualFence cameras locate where the shots were fired from and focus on the area, thereby allowing for swift visibility of the sniper location making the solution extremely effective. Snipers can be identified by the GunfireGuard by deploying multiple sensors.

The lightweight and compact GunfireGuard system is easy to install. The sniper detection sensor can be integrated with the company’s VirtualFence wireless sensor installed at several federal facilities. Erinle also added that the GunfireGaurd protects warfighters in the front-line who need to move into an offensive position in the event of an enemy fire. This would ensure lesser hostile interactions and result in saving lives.

An additional feature of the GunfireGuard is that it accurately identifies from where the shots are coming and provides precise information. This information includes the distance, elevation and direction of the shot in order to ensure an effective response. The acoustic sensor technology incorporates an arrangement of microphones that detect the unique signature of gunfire and pins-on the location, thus allowing soldiers to address any intrusion instantaneously.
