California-based manufacturer of system-on-chip solutions for digital cameras, Zoran has announced the availability of the COACH 14 digital camera processor platform for manufacture of full HD video, hybrid, 3D and interchangeable-lens cameras.
Designed to power CCD and CMOS sensor cameras, the 14th generation of the COACH platform will allow for good quality full HD video and still image capture. An improved video engine allows for 40 % reduction in file size while improving detailed resolution of the video captured. The Senior Vice President of the mobile division, Ohad Meitav stated that the product line’s video engine allowed for easier web connectivity in real-time by providing enhanced compression and supports live streaming, bit-rate control and multi-video feed.
CMOS sensors are rapidly being adopted by digital camera markets worldwide since the sensors are capable of supporting 1080p video in high speed and high quality. An Analyst at Techno Systems Research, Tetsuo Omori anticipates that in 2013 over 70 million CMOS Sensors will be shipped as compared to 65 million CCD sensors.
The digital motion analysis and video stabilization technology provides a smooth and steady video quality. The processor of the Zoran’s COACH 14 processor includes multi-frame algorithms to achieve greater sensitivity and better dynamic range. Additionally it is equipped with lens correction technologies, noise reduction capabilities and contrast enhancements features. Other features include a dual-sensor support for video encoding and 3D stills along with a HDMI 1.4 port.
