RAE Systems, a global provider of sensors and wireless-systems for radiation and chemical detection, has introduced an integrated wireless solution for transportable gas monitors. The solution features its ToxiRAE Pro family of wireless gas instruments and the EchoView Host Mini-Controller.
The comprehensive solution provides real-time data of threats to safety officers, commanders and supervisors. It gives the alarm status and the readings of gas monitors at the 'hot zone' or scene of the incident. The solution increases safety for responders and workers and speeds-up response times. It is suitable for applications, including fire service, refinery turnarounds, and response to hazardous material issues. The integrated solution has received certification as safe for Zone 1 (ATEX, IECEx) hazardous atmospheres and Class I, Division 1 (CSA).
The EchoView Host Mini-Controller is a handheld, rugged controller that can set up a network with eight ToxiRAE Pro wireless monitors that are compatible with the controller. The alarm status and the gas-concentration readings from the monitors are displayed on the screen in real-time. The range between the gas monitors and the EchoView Host is 100 m, and the company’s Mesh Routers can extend the range to about a kilometer.
ToxiRAE Pro family of wireless single-gas monitors include ToxiRAE Pro for monitoring oxygen and toxic gases, ToxiRAE Pro LEL for monitoring combustible vapors and gases, and ToxiRAE Pro PID for monitoring volatile organic compounds. These monitors have a five-way remote and local wireless alarm notification system to alert first responders and workers.
