Vishay Intertechnology has developed surface-mount Power Metal Strip resistors in two case sizes, viz., the 2726 and 4026, which allows for combination of 5 W to 7 W power rating with tremendously low resistance values. The four-terminal design of the resistors allows for resistance tolerances of up to 1%.
The WSLP4026 and WSLP2726 resistors integrate a stabilized manganese-copper or nickel-chrome alloy resistive element, which exhibits a low temperature coefficient of resistance of less than 20 ppm/ºC, resulting in a resistor that can preserve the advanced electrical characteristic of the metal strip while being operated in a temperature range of -65°C to +170°C.
With the new resistors, it is possible to design high power circuits for higher performance-based products with smaller resistors. The high temperature capability of the resistor allows the use of WSLP4026 and WSLP2726 resistors in high temperature, harsh environments while maintaining electrical performance or power rating.
The new devices allow the design of high-power circuits featuring the smallest possible resistor for higher-performance end products. Furthermore, the resistors' high-temperature capability allows the use of the resistor in harsh, high-temperature environments without sacrificing power rating or electrical performance. AEC-Q200-qualified adaptations are also available.
The Power Metal Strip resistors from Vishay are ideal for various voltage division, pulse and current sensing applications such as linear and switching power supplies, power amplifiers, instruments and shunts used in automotive electronic controls.
