Microsoft Corporation has introduced its new TrueColor Technology, a technology that processes images to provide superior brightness and color even in poor lighting environments.
By adjusting the picture quality, the technology provides a truly colorful output irrespective of lighting conditions. TrueColor Technology has been incorporated into three of Microsoft’s new webcams: the LifeCam HD-6000 for Notebooks, LifeCam HD-5001 and LifeCam HD-5000 for desktops. The webcams feature the Auto Focus technology and 720p HD sensors. Moreover, by means of software upgrade, the TrueColor Technology can be availed with Microsoft’s recently introduced LifeCam Cinema.
According to Daniel Anguiano, Microsoft Hardware’s product marketing manager, the company, realizing the fact that brightness and color quality are absolute necessities for achieving good quality video calls, has introduced the TrueColor Technology by combining its proprietary firmware and software to provide a superior video experience.
The TrueColor Technology analyzes the lighting conditions of the user and automatically alters the settings of the LifeCam to provide a great video experience. Furthermore, the technology incorporates Microsoft Research’s face tracking technology, which detects the face of a person and also prevents underexposure and overexposure.
The LifeCam HD-5000 webcam provides excellent video quality in almost any lighting condition. The webcam has an attachment base that can be bended in form to fit on surfaces such as the top of notebook screens and flat-screen monitors. This enables people to use their webcam in their desktops while at home as well as in their laptops while on the go.
A slightly different version of this product, called the LifeCam HD-5001, that has all the unique features of the LifeCam HD-5000 but has a white faceplate custom design will be launched by Best Buy.
The LifeCam HD-6000 webcam for Notebooks incorporates Auto Focus, TrueColor Technology and 720p HD widescreen video. The webcam can be rotated in 360 degrees so as to cover any direction. The webcam comes with a carrying case, a three-foot cord and is compact in design.
