Waters Unveils New Quadrupole Mass Detector at JAIMA Expo 2011

The Massachusetts-based laboratory analytical instruments manufacturer, Waters has unveiled a novel quadrupole mass detector, the Waters SQ Detector 2 at the Japan Analytical Instruments Manufacturers Association (JAIMA ) Expo 2011.

The SQ Detector 2 is based on the company’s open access and quadrupole mass detection technology. The easy-to-use detector is compatible with various chromatographic techniques such as HPLC, GC, SFC, UPLC and UPSFC. Integrated with advanced chromatographic technologies developed by Waters’, the detector provides the user with consistent, reproducible information from a broad range of experiments.

The senior product manager, Ed Sprake stated that the current needs of the market demanded a detection method capable of providing more data from a sample than obtained through conventional methods. Sprake added that the versatile SQ Detector 2 is convenient, hence making routine work hassle-free and is also flexible enough to allow the researcher to address analytical challenges, if any.

Designed with the company’s Engineered Simplicity design philosophy, it ensures excellent system performance with minimum effort required for data interpretation, sample runs and setup while simplifying analytical workflows to ensure increased efficiency and productivity. Furthermore, the Waters SQ Detector 2 requires lower operational costs since it minimizes the training required by new operators and achieves less variability in results.

The robust detector features MassLynx software’s easy-to-use application algorithms, which provides researchers with workflow solutions as well as simplified reporting of results. This leads to consistency of results formatting and data processing, creating accelerated laboratory workflows, increased laboratory efficiency and a quicker ROI.

The SQ Detector 2 integrates the IntelliStart and the ZSpray, proprietary technologies along with the company’s service, informatics and chromatography platforms to provide high quality results consistently.
