Roketsan Missiles Industries Inc. from Turkey has ordered a U.S. missile guidance system from Goodrich Corporation based in Carolina.
The company has placed the order for its new CIRIT 70 mm laser guided missile for attack helicopters. CIRIT is one of the first missiles in its class to incorporate the SiIMU02 inertial sensing unit package.
Alan Hull, director of business development for Goodrich's Sensors and Integrated Systems business said that this order from Roketsan marked the beginning of what he expected to be a successful long-term program with opportunities for CIRIT sales in Turkey and the export market.
Mr Hull said that the SiIMU02 was originally selected for CIRIT due to its proven capability to meet strict performance criteria. As they entered low-rate initial production, they looked forward to supporting Roketsan with dependable technology, products and service.
SiIMU02 IMU offers highly accurate motion sensing in an extremely small, lightweight flexible package suitable for a broad range of missiles and rockets. Using the latest micro electro-mechanical systems (MEMS), SiIMU02 provides precise inertial measurement, yet is one-tenth the size of legacy IMUs.
