Paessler's PRTG Network Monitor for Multi-Location Multiple Networks

The leading performance optimization and network monitoring solutions vendor Paessler’s PRTG Network Monitor offers the most in-depth monitoring services for networks that are distributed spatially through a single license and installation for overcoming the expensive and complex licensing models from other providers.

The PRTG Network Monitor uses specialized remote probes for fast configuration and deployment of a decentralized monitoring program for meeting the requirements of organizations having multiple branches, and the providers of IT services who remotely monitor distributed customer networks.

These remote probes connect to the PRTG server using a secure SSL connection, and then download the required sensor configuration to commence the monitoring process. Every probe functions in an autonomous manner and transmits individual operation results to the central installation. When the connection to the server is lost, say while the computer reboots, the probe continues to carry out its work, and when the communication is reestablished it transmits the stored results and data using the SSL protocol.

It can provide an easy-to-manage and more affordable choice for providers of hosting and data centers, managed service vendors, and multi-location businesses to monitor multiple networks at many locations in order to ensure optimum devices and applications availability, along with adequate bandwidth.

The performance of the computer in use can be bogged down due to CPU-intensive sensors, such as NetFlow sensors or packet sniffers. In such situations the work load is distributed on more than one PC due to presence of multiple probes. It is possible to specify QoS service for different probes for monitoring streaming media data or VoIP quality.

These probes enable round-the-clock monitoring for ensuring service availability and facilitate peak performance operation of vital data networks. LAN networks are compatible with the PRTG platform, with these networks being connected using firewalls for monitoring special services and VPN systems that need monitoring over less secure or public data connections.

Paessler’s CEO Dirk Paessler informed that remote monitoring of multiple networks through a centralized location helps in reducing expenses and time of the service providers as well as their customers.

He added that this system removes the need to have multiple installations and licenses that are expensive for setting up and maintenance. He revealed that the user-friendly system is affordable and does not require users to purchase many separate licenses or distributed editions.
