Advanced Monitoring System by meridianEMR Detects Security Breach in Client Server

The Electronic Health Record provider located in New Jersey, meridianEMR has announced that a security breach was recently detected on the meridianEMR server by its advanced monitoring system. A service provided to Urology providers, the detection practitioners and meridianEMR officials to protect the patient records instantaneously.

The Advanced Monitoring System (AMS) reinforces meridianEMR’s commitment to safe-guard patient data. Following the guidelines set by the HIPAA regulation, the company developed AMS to protect patient confidentiality and information. The Executive Vice President – Sales & Marketing of meridianEMR, Larry G Drappi stated that the AMS is an integral part of the medical record services and it is offered as a part of the package to customer.

The Chief Executive Officer of meridianEMR, Michael J Custode stated that the company regards patient data security as the highest priority and if any unusual activity on any customer’s server is detected by the advanced monitoring system, they are alerted instantaneously. The monitoring system also detects of other health record providers require access to the server.

meridianEMR’s Advanced Monitoring System is a part of its proactive support monitor, which allows Urology practitioners to focus on patient care without worrying about the heart records. Each meridianEMR customer is provided with the proactive support monitor to secure their data. Over 30 diagnostic tests are conducted automatically by meridianEMR by use of the support monitor each day. The system also provides alerts if anything requires immediate attention, such as the security breach. With this monitor, meridianEMR automatically conducts more than 30 diagnostic tests on its customers' systems each day and provides them with an early alert if something requires their attention, as was the case in the recent security breach.

The monitor checks server connectivity every 10 minutes to ensure that meridianEMR never loses contact with the client server. In the event of network loss the client is immediately alerted. Alerts are also sent if the client interface engine, laboratory module or practice management system is faulty or faces errors.
