Manufacturer of wireless sensor networks designed for life safety and commercial applications, Inovonics has announced the Radius system has been selected by the Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell, S.D. to improve safety levels of patient, staff and public.
The wireless situational awareness and mass notification security solution will be demonstrated at the 2011 ASIS held at Orlando, Fla from 19-21 September, 2011.
The Radium mobile duress and monitoring system was installed over 200,000 sq ft spread across multiple multi-storied buildings at the 120-bed medical care facility. The Avera Queen of Peace Hospital offers dialysis, OBGYN care, outpatient services, cardiology, cancer clinic and emergency services. The Radius system will also monitor environmental parameters and temperature for food safety within the premises.
The President of Inovonics, Mark Jarman stated that the Radius solution is ideally suited for the Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. Jarman explained that the hospital campus with multiple building and multiple floors requires an instantaneous location detection and notification solution to ensure that help and care is provided without any delay. Radius enables hospital personnel to reach people who are in need of immediate care, thus ensuring higher quality of patient care and also reinforcing public safety.
The Radius solution is capable of monitoring any security sensor or device and communicates with environmental monitoring, fire and access control systems to send out a mass notification to communication alert devices. In the event of a life threatening situation, Radius receives the alert and locates the exact position of the occurrence. The appropriate authorities are also alerted by the system.
While the Radius can be used as a standalone system, it can also be integrated with other security systems. Once set-up the Radius can locate faculty, employees, patients or students when they signal for assistance or help. The system can also be used with universal transmitters, pendant transmitters, motion detectors and also be integrated with water sensors, fence tilt sensors, wireless perimeter beams or fire extinguisher monitors.
The installation of the Radius system in the Avera Queen of Peace Hospital was completed within four days. Over 100 wireless sensors were installed all over the campus along with a locator network, a repeater and a server. The installed sensors included mobile panic buttons, several fixed mount devices as well as temperature sensors.
