The Sweden-based provider of biometric technology solutions, Fingerprint Cards has announced that its distributor in China has placed an additional order worth over SEK 20 million.
The order has been placed for the internet banking segment by Hardware and Software Technologies and Fingerprint Cards will deliver its FPC1011F area sensor during 2011 and 2012. This will allow the company to expand further into the personal identification market segment.
The FPC1011F sensors will be delivered to one of the largest banks in China where it will be integrated into the identification units. The bank aims at expanding its services to include internet banking services to its customers and its employees. The availability of the biometric units to the customers will create a large market opportunity since the unique service hasn’t been launched in many regions.
The Chief Executive Officer of Fingerprint Cards, Johan Carlström stated that the implementation of the biometric solution and its availability to end customers has opened up several opportunities in other regions as well.
