A smartphone app has been released by American Thermal Instruments (ATI) to allow the users accessibility to its LOG-IC NFC data logger for reviewing, scanning and communicating temperature information in real-time. This is the first time that an application of this kind has been introduced, which provides complete operational real-time temperature monitoring in the cold chain industry.
The app availability was announced at the IQPC Cold Chain Conference in Philadelphia, where the company presented the LOG-IC NFC app and explained its working on a Google Nexus S smartphone. Exhibitors explained the ease of the procedure, demonstrating the speed, at which smartphone users can retrieve real-time information and full temperature history from a data logger. The App is compatible with any NFC-capable smartphone and works on the Android Operating System.
LOG-IC data loggers are equipped with near-field communicating technology in order to help them to communicate with the smartphone app, LOG-IC NFC. It is possible to see the information on the smartphone display in a range of formats just after the data logger scanning is completed. The NFC version retains all the presently available features in the LOG-IC data loggers.
The LOG-IC software, an integral feature of the new app enables precise clear decision support and also allows for detailed documentation and analysis. It is possible for users to instantaneously and automatically obtain a range of charts, reports and graphs to satisfy individual requirements. The app also enables users to share information as well as transfer it to the other applications.
The LOG-IC NFC app will be commercially available in January 2012. The company is providing the app to companies who may want to take part in the pilot program.
