Flexpoint Gives Updates on its Automotive Sensors

Flexpoint has announced that it is nearing the completion of a custom made sensor, which uses the company’s Bend Sensor technology.

The sensor will be used by an unnamed automotive manufacturer for its current platform. The company has made changes in the design of the sensor and the final product based on discussions with the first level supplier and its automotive client. The first level supplier is expected to complete the final testing and documentation of the product by the end of 2011, after which it will be handed over to the automotive manufacturer for installation into a few chosen models of automotives. The automotive client is also in the process of choosing the model of vehicle, on which the sensor is to be launched. It is also expected that the client will incorporate the sensor into various other models and platforms leading to an increase in the production of the sensor.

The company also announced that it has won contracts to supply this sensor and other related products such as impact sensors, seat controls, seat sensors and comfort seats to its current client and other automotive manufactures that are in the various stages of productions. Flexpoint is working with Victor steering to develop a system by adopting the Bend Sensor technology. It has also won a product development contract from a prominent trucking company and expects to carry out the contract by the end of 2011 and production on this product is expected to begin by the middle of 2012.
