Teledyne DALSA Introduces Compact BOA Pro Industrial Vision Solution

A machine vision technology company, Teledyne DALSA, is set to launch the BOA Pro smart cameras for industrial inspection in manufacturing industries. The launch will take place between October 26 and 28 at the Vision China 2011 event at the China International Exhibition Center in Beijing.

Advanced Sherlock Inspection Software Added to Smart Camera

Teledyne DALSA's BOA Pro smart camera consists of the company’s BOA smart camera and the sophisticated Sherlock inspection software. This enables the compact solution to be applied in all types of manufacturing industries.

The Teledyne DALSA Industrial Products’ director, Steve Geraghty, stated that the broad capabilities of the Sherlock inspection software will enable users to decide on a software interface for machine vision that can address their present and future requirements for industrial inspection.

BOA Pro features an advanced interface that provides maximum flexibility in design. It has a JavaScript-based scripting tool and a set of tools that suit most applications. The camera has a tiny form factor and an IP67 rated enclosure that can withstand rough environments. It also has a full-featured off-line emulator and flexible industrial communications.

The Sherlock inspection software furnishes a complete set of vision tools that can be applied to a wide range of industries. It includes preprocessors, sophisticated algorithms and a library of instructions that can be combined to solve demanding as well as simple tasks. The software algorithms and construct scripts can be customized by the user. The Sherlock inspection software also allows development of operator interfaces and construction of scripts.

The applications in the BOA Pro smart cameras can be configured through web browsers. The camera images are fed to the GUI of the Sherlock software during development. The program commands are then executed on the camera. The BOA Pro features a secondary interface for updating the firmware, monitoring runtime and setting up the device.
