The explosive detector is particularly useful in detecting explosive threats at critical infrastructure, such as nuclear plants, embassies or financial institutions. The president of Implant Sciences pointed out that the demand for explosive detectors has been on the rise after the terrorist attacks at US embassies in Kabul, Damascus and Sarajevo.

This handheld explosive trace detector, QS-H150 employs ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) technique for the identification and detection of even extremely small quantities of military, homemade or commercial explosives. The detector requires minimum maintenance and does not use any radioactive materials for operation. It is self-calibrating and delivers superior levels of operational availability. A recently introduced explosive detector is the QS-B220, which is a bench-top explosive and narcotics detector. This also utilises IMS method for detection and is capable of detecting narcotic drugs, homemade, commercial and military explosives.

Implant Sciences, develops, produces and markets advanced sensors and systems for safety, security and defence sectors. The company has formulated several novel technologies in its narcotics and explosive trace detection solutions that are supplied to several locations both locally and worldwide.
