CAS DataLoggers and Novus Automation have together released the Wireless AirGate-Modbus Gateway, which is a new wireless multifunctional gateway. This gateway will allow the insertion of the wireless branches into the current wired RS485 networks, easily and clearly.
Multiplexer, Modbus Master, USBRS485 converter and simple wireless RS485 expansion are the four operation modes of this AirGate-Modbus gateway. The operation of the gateway is performed in Star mode, which is supported by a proprietary protocol that is based on IEEE 802.15.4, and the linking of many wireless sections are enabled to a current Modbus RS-485 network. As this Novus gateway exhibits several features, clients can rapidly integrate their wireless technology cost-effectively.
This Novus gateway provides 100 mW, maximum power transmission and operating channels of up to 16. Bright LEDs will give an apparent status indication to the users. The gateway operates with a power supply of 10 to 35 and can attain up to 250 Kbps of RF data rate and from 1200 to 115.2 Kbps of serial port baud rate. By means of 2 dBi antenna gain and 2.4 GHz of ISM’s operating band, the wireless range of AirGate has expanded out to 3280 ft outdoors and 328 ft indoors. A network identifier is used in this Novus gateway for clarity and the gateway operates at a wide temperature of 0 to 70°C. The wireless gateway is a solution for low-power consumption and uses only 70 mA of power.
Modbus RTU interface has incorporated two RS485 connectors and an RP SMA female connector plug. Mini-B USB device of the gateway will be used for data compilation. By using AES-CBC-128 data cryptography, the wireless ability of the gateway has been backed by strong security.
