The Sensors Division of MTS systems has developed a detachable electronic housing for the Temposonics R-series sensors. The Temposonics sensors ensure less maintenance and accurate measurements, when used in critical applications of manufacturing industries.
The housing style of the system corresponds to the R-series model RD4, which enables removal of damaged electronic components due to vibrations, temperature shocks and other harsh environmental conditions. Apart from the model RD4 style, the MTS sensors system offers many housing patterns such as profile-style (RP), flexible style (RF) and rod-style (RH) for the R-series output.
Matt Hankinson, a Marketing Manager in Technical Division of MTS Sensors systems, said that the detachable electronic components of the R-series RD4 housing system ensures distinct advantages in industrial manufacturing, when the system is exposed to adverse environmental conditions. Hankinson added that since the sensing elements require less maintenance and non-contact, the sensing elements exhibit increased resilient property and high sensitivity towards severe environmental conditions. Hankinson stated that since the housing system is developed with detached electronics, the customers can broaden the operating specifications range, which is not possible in conventional technology. Hankinson said that the company is pleased that this new technology has been received positively by customers.
The housing system with detached electronics is provided with advanced Temposonics output protocol, which contains EtherNet/IP, CANbus, synchronous serial output (SSI), Profibus, EtherCAT, analog and DeviceNet. The detached R-series housing system is employed by the MTS sensor’s previous customers in steel production, woodworking, linear actuators, and fluid power fields. The R-series RD4 model sensor shows more design flexibility, ease in installation of compact housing system in the clevis mount cylinders having tight space.
