Gentex, a provider of personal protection and situational awareness solutions, has declared that the company has taken over all the assets of InterSense, a provider of MEMS-based hybrid motion tracking systems, without disclosing the terms and conditions of the agreement.
This acquisition ensures advancement of Gentex’ growth plans and increases the company’s capability to meet the high demand for precision movement tracking and situational awareness capabilities in non-military and military industries.
InterSense, based in Billerica, produces hybrid and inertial motion tracking devices, which ensures accurate monitoring of human movements for use in operational and training applications.
L. Peter Frieder, Gentex’s Chief Executive Officer and President, stated that with the acquisition of the total technology strength of InterSense, the company will rapidly improve its capabilities in augmented reality, helmet-mounted and simulation technology. Frieder also added that this acquisition will enable a close bond between talented employees of both Gentex and InterSense, who are pleased to develop superior and cost-efficient solutions for increasingly demanding customers.
Ken Jones, General Manager of InterSense and Vice President of Gentex, stated that InterSense is delighted to collaborate with Gentex industry, and its employees are looking forward to working together.
The acquired InterSense will be headed by Jones and Eric Foxlin, Founder of InterSense, along with other important business managers. This will enable a smooth transition for both the organization’s customers and employees.
Pete Roney Gentex’s Executive Vice President stated that InterSense, being a part of Gentex will deliver precise movement tracking systems for both international and domestic customers. Roney added that an integrated InterSense-Gentex team will enable develop game-changing technology in the future years.
