GTX, one of the companies manufacturing GPS Tracking Personal Location Services (PLS) solutions has been awarded a delivery order from Aetrex Worldwide for GOS devices. GTX has recently fulfilled an order for 3,000 devices from Aetrex, the new order is for additional 1500 GPS devices, which will need to be delivered by January 2012.
The two-way GPS tracking devices are embedded in the Aetrex Ambulator shoe. The Ambulator series is a collection of reliable monitoring solutions, which are used for monitoring as many as 5.3 million senior citizens in the US who are afflicted with dementia or Alzeimer’s disease. The GPS shoe has become popular across the world and has more than 20 patents on its name and some patents are still in the processing stages. It has also received the People’s Choice award for being the most innovative connected device.
The licensing from GTX will expand the availability of the GPS shoe to more countries from the first quarter of 2012. The goal is to make the GPS Shoe available to as many as 12 countries by the end of 2012. Based on the global acceptance of the compact GPS devices, GTX has started working on developing even smaller devices, which can be used in the children’s market. They will be displaying the new prototype at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which will be held at Las Vegas on 11 January.
