SAW Instruments Permits ACOBIO to Sell Sam Acoustic Biosensor In Japan

SAW Instruments, a manufacturer of biosensor-based laboratory equipments for life sciences research, has signed an agreement to permit ACOBIO, a distributor of laboratory instruments, to sell SAW’s novel Sam acoustic biosensor in Japan.

SAW Instruments’ sam acoustic biosensor for life science research

Along with the Sam biosensor, a latest high-end sam X series sensor has also been presented at the 34th annual meeting of the Molecular Biology Society from December 13 to 16 in Japan. The Sam biosensor is capable of performing the kinetics studies in real-time on the live mammalian cells’ surface. The Sam X series biosensor is provided with a novel adaptable microfluidic routing and increased number of analysis channels, which makes the system to expand its power, flexibility and throughput availability. The Sam and Sam X biosensors are incorporated with the surface acoustic wave technology, which is based on the ability of the energy wave travelling across the material’s surface. The need for fluorescent labelling is eliminated while using SAW’s sam acoustic biosensors in the real-time cell-based studies. These biosensors can employ unfixed live cells that either adhere to the surface of sensor or remain suspended, thereby ensuring rapid analysis in less time.

SAW’s Sam acoustic biosensor is provided with dual sensor chips and eight channels, which helps to increase its throughput. The user operational flow and highly flexible assay design can be optimised by using the sensor channels either in sequential combinations such as 4 x 2, 1 x 8, and 2 x 4 or independently. The SAW’s sam X series biosensor will produce highly precise study results in less time than the similar technology based on equilibrium. It can be ideally employed in the measurements of kinetics and binding constants at the live mammalian cells’ surface.

Mr Eiji Takagi, ACOBIO’s President, stated that the company is delighted to collaborate with SAW Instruments by this exclusive agreement for selling the company’s latest Sam systems employed in the study of molecular interactions on the live mammalian cells. Takagi commented that with its extensive business experience in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, the company’s mission is to distribute the life science related products to the industries and universities in Japan.
