Universal Detection Technology, a provider of handheld assays and manufacturer of monitoring equipments for protection against the radiological, nuclear (CBRN), biological and chemical threats in the country, has declared that it has been awarded a purchase order for the company’s biological monitoring devices from the United States Army.
According to a report from the WMD center published in October, even though the United States has spent more than $65 billion for biological defense purpose over the past decades, it is not prepared for a large-scale biological threat. The report also proves that nowadays due to the development of advanced technologies, the attack of bioterror agents is becoming highly dangerous. It also says that a small group of individuals who are trained in specific disciplines are capable of developing similar kind of biological weapons that are created by nation-states during the 1960s.
Mr. Jacques Tizabi, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Universal Detection Technology stated that the threat caused by the bioterror agents is very dangerous to the civilian and government sectors. Tizabi added that the company is delighted to supply its threat detection systems to the armed forces for monitoring biological weapons including Ricin and Anthrax.
