KVH Industries has declared that the company has received a $7.6 million order from an international defense contractor for its single-axis fiber optic gyroscope (FOGs).
The company’s single-axis FOGs can be employed in assisting optical and weapon stabilization process used in the remote weapon stations of the US military. The company will commence to deliver its FOGs immediately from this year and will continue till the year 2013.
The company’s fiber optic gyroscopic sensor systems were deployed in an array of defense and business-related stabilization technology, autonomous vehicle, precision guidance and navigation applications.
Jay Napoli, Vice President of OEM/FOG sales of KVH Industries, stated that the company’s single-axis fiber optic gyroscope systems are versatile, compact, high strength, generate less noise and are highly affordable. Napoli added that the company’s FOGs are selected by the system integrators and end users for its patented digital signal processing electronics architecture, outstanding performance, and acceptable output range with regards to scale factor linearity, turn-on to turn-on repeatability, increased bandwidth, and bias stability. Napoli commented that these company’s less noise gyroscopes can be suitably used in various demanding applications that are in need of the ability to tolerate the repeated shock and increased speed gunfire as well as the accurate rate and turning angle measurement.
