Implant Sciences, a provider of sophisticated sensors and systems for Security, Safety, and Defense (SS&D) markets, has introduced the Quantum Sniffer QS-B220 benchtop explosives and narcotics trace detecting sensor, which has received the CE approval. The safety and performance of the trace detector was evaluated during the CE testing process against the harmonized standards, which is defined by the 27 European Union’s (EU) member nations.
The QS-B220 employs ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) to quickly identify and detect the traces of narcotic substances and a broad variety of commercial, homemade, and military explosives. The QS-B220 benchtop narcotics and explosives trace sensor can be ideally used in a wide range of security settings such as high-traffic borders and airports.
Bruce Bower, Implant Sciences Sales and Marketing’s Senior Vice President, stated that the opening up of the European market for the company’s QS-B220 is significantly important, since all the European users need CE approved products. Bower added that the company will also provide its support to many customers requiring CE certification from outside the EU.
Glenn D. Bolduc, Implant Sciences’ Chief Executive Officer and President, stated that the company has been developing various supplier channels for distributing its QS-H150, a portable explosive trace sensor across Europe. Bolduc added that the company will leverage these supply channels to deliver its CE-approved QS-B220 benchtop explosive trace sensor, thereby satisfying the multiple needs mandated by the US Transportation Security Administration.
