Microchip Technology, a Chandler-based provider of Flash-IP, analog and microcontroller solutions has entered into an agreement with Demmel AG, whereby Demmel AG will become a mTouch Sensing Design Partner Specialist.
Demmel AG, an industrial design and manufacturing specialist with expertise in human-interface products and embedded electronics, will provide a touch sensing solution for Microchip’s mTouch solutions used in touch screen controllers, keys and sliders. The metal over capacitive touch-sensing technology developed by Microchip aids in designing robust home and medical appliances featuring metal overlays that function in the presence of liquids and also when the user is operating the device with gloves on.
The MetalLight solution from Demmel features the mTouch metal over capacitive touch-sensing technology on a metallic front panel which features touch-switch enabled illuminated symbols.
An innovative sputtering and printing technique enables etched or laser-cut symbols to be filled with pigmented or transparent plastics. This technology ensures that every symbol will glow with bright and uniform illumination, irrespective of its size. The MetalLight technology also allows various combinations of LED colors and plastics to be used in the process.
The Director of the HMI division at Microchip Technology, Fanie Duvenhage stated that the meticulous design process followed by Demmel will allow the customers to market their product with full confidence, knowing fully well that they worked with a mTouch sensing design partner.
The product manager at Demmel, Marcus Riegger expressed their excitement at becoming a part of the design partner group by stating that the mTouch technology allows Demmel to provide customized and robust capacitive-control and robust interface solutions and electronics to its customers.
