Aptina, a CMOS image sensor products and solutions provider, has expanded its range of automotive camera viewing solution with a new system-on-chip, the ASX340AT.
The viewing solution has been designed for tier-1 OEMs and automotive manufacturers and provides unparalleled lowlight performance along with dynamic overlay capability. Furthermore, the AEC-Q100 qualified ¼-inch VGA sensor with 5.6 µm pixel performance can be used for a temperature range of -40ºF to 221ºF (-40ºC to 105ºC).
The automotive viewing applications of the ASX340AT is ideal for surround view, rear view and blind spot detection, offering the driver enhanced awareness and greater visibility even in minimal light conditions. The SoC processing allows designers to develop the rear view camera systems without using other processing chips. This has been achieved by integrating the dynamic response Aptina DR-PIX technology, which provides increased sensitivity and reduced noise.
The ASX340AT includes dynamic overlay capability, which allows designers to include colored graphics to the display to provide a visual aid to the driver and improve the experience. An on-chip image flow processor is capable of performing auto white balancing, auto exposure, color recovery and correction, lens shading correction, gamma, image sharpening and instantaneous defect correction. Additional optical pixels are provided for lens alignment by the on-chip temperature sensor, which also protects the camera system in extreme temperature conditions.
The Vice President of the automotive business at Aptina, David Zimpfer stated that the ASX340AT is ideal for vehicle manufacturers who require cost-effective rear view camera systems to conformto the requirements of theNational Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
