MultiDimension Technology (MDT), headquartered in China’s Jiangsu Province, has developed TMR magnetic switch sensors, the first of its kind, for use in smart flow meters that are battery-powered, such as gas flow meters, water flow meters and heat flow meters.
The TMR magnetic switch sensors, the MMS105Hand the MMS103H have been developed using the Tunneling Magnetoresistance (TMR) technology, making them ideal for high performance utility and industrial applications such as industrial proximity switches, rotary position sensing, speed sensing, solid state sensing and linear displacement sensing.
The advantages of the TMR technology are seen in various product series that include TMR magnetic field sensors, TMR magnetic angle sensors and TMR magnetic switch sensors.
The MMS105H and MMS103H sensors provide high frequency response of up to 100 kHz with a low current supply of 5ìA. The magnetic switch sensors do not require power cycling since the power consumption is very low during operation.
The benefits provided by the magnetic switch sensors include CMOS-based bipolar latching operation, release point of +/-50 Gauss for MMH105H and +/-30 Gauss for MMH103H. With a superior ESD immunity and accurate switching points, the sensors offer high temperature stability and high speed magnetic field measurement. The sensors include an on-chip TMR voltage generator, a TMR voltage amplifier, a comparator, a CMOS output and a Schmitt trigger.
The Chief Executive Officer of MultiDimension Technology, Dr Song Xue stated that the new magnetic switch sensors provide faster measurements and a long battery life along with reliable and uninterrupted operation.
