Analog and mixed signal solutions provider ZMDI has announced that it has launched the 16-bit sensor signal conditioning IC for resistive sensor modules that are calibrated. The model named ZSSC3016 offers 16-bit precision analog-to-digital conversion and 18-bit DSP calibration and linearization functions.
The conditioner operates in voltages of 1.8 to 3.6 V along with an intelligent power saver scheme and has a high resolution sensor interface ASSP, which is specifically designed for low power battery devices in the range of power consumption of less than 1mA and a lower standby of less than 250nA.
The conditioner has a noise free signal and enables an altitude resolution of 15 cm at sea level. It is also equipped with an internal sensor supply regulator which has a high power supply rejection ratio and making it more ideal for mobile phones or transmitters which form battery voltage dumps. The conditioner is ideally suited for applications such as sport watches, outdoor GPS tracking systems, altimeter module applications and mobile phones.
The sensor also provides for accurate measurements in emergency call systems, portable navigation, hard disk pressure management, weather forecasting and altitude measurement for car navigation. Most cases of motion sensing sport equipment and multi function watches can greatly make use of this precision signal conditioner. The sensor can be programmed easily due to its simple interface and calibration software that is PC controlled.
