Spatial Energy, a source of content hosting, digital imagery and information solutions for the energy sector, has declared the Remote Sensing Energy Challenge. The competition has two categories, student and commercial, and the total cash award is $10,000.
The goal of the challenge is to determine innovative remote sensing solutions for assisting oil and gas companies in meeting the high energy demand.
Submissions for the Remote Sensing Energy Challenge must be related to key energy application areas that include exploration, seismic/non-seismic surveys, environmental and engineering. Exploration area includes determining new sources of unconventional or conventional hydrocarbons. Seismic or non-seismic surveys include enhancing the efficiency and quality of seismic work and reducing the associated risk. Engineering area includes optimization of activities with respect to production and exploration. Environmental area includes reducing the impact of oil and gas activities.
The entries will be evaluated by a team of judges from global energy companies and Spatial Energy mainly based on the advantages that the solution offers to the oil and gas industry. Other significant judging criteria include advantage over current solutions, commercial potential and technological feasibility.
The last date for receiving entries is May 15, 2012. Submissions must include illustrated summary reports not more than six pages along with supporting images and maps. The award will be declared at the annual Spatial Energy Customer Summit in Boulder, Colorado on August 9 and 10, 2012.
