The IP video surveillance system from NICE Systems has been installed at the ongoing 2010 Shanghai World Expo that will last up to October 31, 2010.
This system forms a part of the event’s total security measures in order to ensure the security and safety of visitors to the Expo.
This system is can acquire the operational, safety and security data from multiple systems and sensors such as radio, web, video, audio and many more. The Expo park’s outdoor area will also be monitored closely by the system. The system has been integrated into the CCTV cameras’ point-tilt-zoom (PTZ) system at the Expo.
The systems will monitor an overall area of about 5 km2 and spans across the two sides of the Huangpu River in addition to monitoring the outside areas and enclosed areas of support facilities.
It provides content analysis providing relevant and immediate insights and offers a framework through which data silos are fused into a holistic, single view. This results in delivery of incident management and situational awareness in real time. It offers capabilities in real time to handle security events, thereby mitigating and preventing risks, in addition to more reliable, accurate and faster post event investigation capabilities.
The Expo is likely to have about 70 million visitors. More than 50 international organizations and 190 nations have registered for participation in the Expo, besides around 100 foreign leaders.
Hong Cheng Electrical and Mechanical’s Jin Yao Hua who is the project partner of NICE in the Expo, informed that the NICE system has been installed to reduce the risk involved while dealing with large crowds.

He added that this installation highlights his company’s substantial footprint in the security market in Asia that includes eight strategic implementations in China alone through a range of mass transportation systems and also by the Shanghai Pudong International Airport.
