Atlas Polar Introduces High Volt Proximity Warning System

Canada-based Atlas Polar has introduced the HiVolt Alert which is a proximity warning system for equipment operators when they are close to high voltage lines. According to experts almost all electrocutions occur due to proximity to high voltage electric lines.

HiVolt Alert™ proximity alarm system

The warning system can be used in various kinds of industries and for various kinds of equipment such as logging trucks, dump trucks, tree trimming trucks and fire department ladder trucks, road maintenance equipment and TV antenna vans. The system comes with a central display and a choice of sensors that contain alarm, visual and audio indicators. Since the HiVolt alert system is completely wireless, the sensors do not require reprogramming and can be placed anywhere on the equipment. They do not require electric connections and can operate on two sensitive levels called the “Far Work Zone” and the “Near Work Zone”. The display screen is large and hence makes it easy to read the operational values and settings.

The importance of the situation is the driving factor for the alarm system. While the first alarm is a flashing amber light, the second is a horn alarm with a flashing red light and the third is a loud horn with a quickly flashing red light. This alarm shuts down the vehicle to prevent electrocution by providing the needed hydraulics. The sensors contain rechargeable batteries that have a large capacity. It also has built in solar cells that increase the life of the batteries. They also come with a power switch, which can be used to turn it off or on manually.
