TURCK, a manufacturer of RFID, sensors and other equipment for process automation, has expanded its uprox+ range of factor one sensors with the Q42, a long-range proximity sensor.
The inductive sensor has been developed using FDA rated materials designed specifically for wash down applications. The Q42 inductive sensor is available in both front- and top-facing models. The IP68 and IP69K certified uprox+ factor one sensors are capable of detecting metals such as stainless steel, iron, aluminum, brass and copper without any additional correction factors and offers a sensing range of up to 50 mm.The existing range of uprox+ wash down sensors comprise barrels of 30, 18 and 12 mm diameter with sensing ranges between 4-30 mm. The extended sensing distance feature eliminates the need of changing sensor position for different metals and also decreases the sensor types required for plant operations. The Q42 can be operated in temperatures ranging between -40°C and 100°C.
Designed to ensure optimal application performance, the Q42 can be used for outdoor applications such as car washes, where the sensor is unprotected or exposed in damp / wet environments and in food & beverage applications that need to be cleaned frequently.
The PA12 thermoplastic housing of the Q42 sensor along with a stainless steel connector delivers superior resistance to caustic cleaning agents and chemicals and also protects the sensor from impact shock. The food-safe housing materials of the sensor meet the FDA/EGVO 1935/2004 requirements for the E.U. and the FDA Regulation 21CFR 177, 1500(9) requirement for the US.
The Product Manager of TURCK, John Murphy stated that the Q42 provides precise sensing results along with flexibility and peak performance even in harsh conditions.
