Flexpoint Sensor Systems Receives Additional Orders for Universal Sensor

Flexpoint Sensor Systems, a thin-film sensing technology developer based in Draper, Utah, has announced that the company has received additional orders from three companies for Flexpoint’s universal sensor.

The additional orders have been placed by HTK Engineering, Card Access and Intertek Industrial. The production of the sensors will be followed by their assembly into Flexpoint’s universal sensor. The delivery of the sensor is estimated during the Q1 of 2012.

The President of Flexpoint Sensor, Clark Mower expressed excitement at the receipt of the orders by stating that the largest order received is for 500 sensor units. Earlier Flexpoint has also received order for 25 and 40 units of universal sensors. Mower estimates that the growing customer base will continue to place recurring orders for the sensor units. The companies include emergency vehicles, busing, trucking, automobile, public transportation, military and governmental entities.

Flexpoint Sensor develops a single layer, flexible Bend sensor technology that is capable of measuring air flow, mechanical movement and vibration. The durable, thin film technology is used in several automotive, industrial control, medical and consumer applications.

The Bend Sensor products developed by Flexpoint feature a coated substrate whose electrical conductivity changes as it bends. The sensor connects to electronic systems to precisely calculate the degree of bending or its movement. The single layer design eliminates issues such as dirt, dust, pressure, liquids and heat affects that are associated with conventional sensors.
