Neonode, an optical touch technology developer for automotive applications, mobile phones, e-readers, tablets and printers, has announced that the company has signed a technology license agreement with a manufacturer of office equipment.
As per the terms of the multi-year agreement, Neonode’s Multi-Sensing solution will be integrated with color LCD panels. The integration of Neonode’s zForce touch solution has already been completed with the initial batch of office products. The product is likely to be launched in Q3 of 2012. An undisclosed license fee will be provided to Neonode for every unit featuring zForce touch solution sold. As per the technology agreement, no amount has been set on the license fees that the company is entitled to.
The Chief Executive Officer of Neonode, Thomas Eriksson stated that its Multi-Sensing technology will enable its customers to offer low-cost and high-performance office products. Neonode’s zForce multi-touch technology will replace low-performance and outdated resistive touch technology being used in majority of office products available in the market today at a competitive cost.
Neonode’s zForce touch solution offers high sensitivity and high insensitivity to electrical interference. Furthermore, it provides total optical transparency, thus reducing glares, improving battery life and image quality. The zForce solution can be applied on flat surfaces including organic light emitting diode displays (OLED), liquid crystal display (LCD), electronic paper displays (EPD), Plasticlogic, Mirasol, and mouse pad.
Neonode is headquartered in Stockholm. It has offices in USA, Europe, Asia, Korea, China and Japan. Its customers include Sonim, Sony, Barnes & Noble and Kobo.
