TenCate Geosynthetics has announced that it has signed a letter of intent for collaboration with AGT International as per which the TenCate GeoDetect technology will be installed in a dike body located at the Yellow River in Dayulan in China’s Henan province. The Yellow River project is being implemented by AGT International and TNO Operations.
The TenCate GeoDetect monitoring system developed for geotechnical applications features interwoven fibre optics with geotextiles capable of registering modifications in dikes and embankments. The AGT Flood Early Warning System (FEWS) developed to gather and analyze information on deformations and dike stability for detecting flooding risks, will use the TenCate GeoDetect system. The data gathered will be used to take rapid preventive measures in the event of a dike failure. Furthermore, the system not only updates managers with data on the stability and conditions of the dike, but also conducts flood prognosis and aids decision makers in the required evacuation process.
The Global Group Director at TenCate Geosynthetics, Wally Moore stated that the collaboration with AGT International provides a differentiated and innovative approach to identify defects and problems associated with dikes as well as with hydraulic-infrastructural segments.
The CEO of AGT Netherlands, Pieter-Christiaan van Oranje-Nassau stated that the ground breaking solution gathers real-time information to generate an assessment of the river conditions. The simulation and prediction software issues recommendations and alerts to the affected areas.
Headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, AGT International develops technology solutions for cyber security, natural disaster preparedness, law enforcement, transportation, urban management and critical infrastructure and border protection.
