Dexter Industries has announced that its WiFi Sensor developed for LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT, along with the Thingspeak application will enable users to join “Internet of Thing” web community and enable the NXT to be communicated through cloud computing.
MINDSTORM NXT users can use Thingspeak, an open web-based application, to connect their device using the Internet and expand the computing capacity and the memory of their MINDSTORMS NXT, enabling complex calculations and access to data storage on the cloud. Thingspeak can be used for RFID transactions, sensor and energy monitoring, geo location tracking and to connect systems and devices.
The WiFi Sensor developed by Dexter Industries enables users of MINDSTORMS NXT to upload data to Thingspeak and similar websites, which enables users to connect their electronic devices to the web, remotely monitor the energy usage and interface with popular social networking sites.
Supported by NXC and Robot C code, the WiFi sensor is capable of communicating through TCP, UDP and HTTP protocols. It can connect using WiFi enabled devices, WEP, WPA and WPA2-PSK networks. Capable of logging onto the home network, the WiFi sensor operates using 802.11 b/g/n access and is powered using a 9V battery.
Dexter Industries is a hardware and software developer and manufacturer of sensor solutions for LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT. Its product offering includes thermal infrared sensor, dIMU inertial motion sensor, dGPS navigation sensor, dSolar, dFlex, RobotC and digital compass sensor.
